This project for a Cadiz nightclub by Velvet Projects, run by José Ramón Losada Prieto, had a strong emphasis on design. The aim was to create a club with a dynamic, state-of-the-art image, where a skilful use of lighting, directed at the room’s different volumes, could contribute to the creation of a theatre stage.

In keeping with the legend of Icarus to which the nightclub owes its name, lighting was used to create linear beams of light able to illuminate different volumes to optimum effect and generate reflections and dazzling gleams, bringing an explosion of light to each of the nightclub’s different areas.

In order to create a neutral background on which light could be cast, pale coloured materials able to reflect the dominant red and blue sparkles of light were used, together with KRION® Solid Surface a compact mineral material, and porcelain tiles by URBATEKPORCELANOSA Grupo.

A place subject to such high pedestrian traffic as this needs resistant wall and floor coverings that ensure durability and timeless visual appeal, combined with all the other materials to create a unique trend-setting backdrop.

The elegant modern-looking MORSE collection, which combines the appearance of coloured microcement with the benefits of through-body porcelain tiles, was chosen for the floors, together with the TOWN, monochrome through-body porcelain tile collection. The MORSE White collection brings an industrial look to the spacious gaming room and to its corridors and toilets in its most luminous shade of colour and subtle nature finish, with all the understated appeal of trowelled concrete, while a model that is always a safe bet – TOWN Black Nature – can be found in the VIP area and also in the toilets.

Velvet Projects needed low-maintenance materials with a low porosity to ensure a long life, hence the use of URBATEK through-body porcelain tiles.
